Demolition work by the Volken Group

Cleanly removing what has become obsolete

In many places where new buildings are being constructed, old ones have to give way. Especially in residential areas, where building sites are becoming scarcer year after year, the demolition of existing buildings is often the only solution. The Volken Group is also a strong partner in this area of construction - including the precise and environmentally friendly separation of all materials that are produced in the process.

Demolition is hard work with brains

Every demolition project is demanding and complex. On the one hand, a strict demolition perimeter defines the freed-up space but is limited. On the other hand, legal guidelines require that deconstructed materials must be strictly separated. As a specialist in demolition, the Volken Group has not only decades of experience but also the necessary demolition equipment to remove disused objects quickly. Whether it's a simple foundation or a large-scale industrial plant, a private house, an office building, or a complex structure: we work efficiently and always comply with the relevant laws and guidelines.

The end is only at the height of 23 metres

With our high reach demolition excavator EC380HR from Volvo, we demolish buildings up to 23 metres high. The long excavator arm has two cameras so that the excavator operator always has an overview, even at the top. So the operator in his cab can even see what is behind the edge of the building. The long arm also has a sprinkler system: four nozzles at the very front of the excavator's arm spray a fine water mist that envelops the dust, binds it, and significantly reduces emissions.

OUR VOLVO EC380HR

The E stands for efficiency

The Volvo crawler excavator is a powerful construction machine with low fuel consumption, high fuel efficiency, and great productivity. Depending on the situation, the operator selects the ideal operating mode (F) Fine, (G) General, (H) Heavy, or (P) Power. The impressive implement was specially designed for rough demolition work, has a working weight of up to 51 t, and can mount attachments of up to 3000 kg on the 23 m long excavator arm. Reliable safety technology is also at work: The load moment indicator informs the driver if the machine approaches its maximum permissible load.

No building can withstand a closing pressure of over 120 tonnes

Demolition tongs pulverise walls piece by piece. They are hydraulically rotatable and can be equipped with different blades. The fully hydraulic quick-change system is also extremely helpful: the operator can attach other equipment, such as the grapple or an excavator magnet, in less than a minute without getting out of the machine.

Pivoting operator's cab & extendable undercarriage

The excavator operator can tilt his cab up to 30 degrees so that he always has a clear view of the demolition site. A grille-mounted on the frame protects him from falling debris. For maximum stability of the construction machine, the undercarriage can be extended on-site up to 4 metres and retracted effortlessly.

His short arm also works in civil engineering

The long arm is not the right tool everywhere, which is why a standard excavator arm can also replace it. Either a shorter arm with two sections and a length of 12.3 metres or with three sections and a length of 15.3 metres is used. Shorter excavator arms are suitable for heavier and more powerful attachments, and they transform the demolition excavator into a machine that can also do heavy-duty work in civil engineering.

Demolition machine operator Marcel Senggen

Hardly anyone demolishes so skilfully

Marcel Senggen has been operating various excavators for around 25 years. During this time, he has not only acquired a great deal of experience, and he has also proved that he has a great deal of tact and a fine instinct in his blood. The specialised machinist knows which wall and which component he has to demolish first and what can be tackled later. At the same time, he also knows that demolition does not work without teamwork. Several workers are always involved, either operating a second excavator or separating and sorting the demolished material properly.

So that only what is allowed falls

Delicate demolition work in the vicinity of several buildings is associated with a safety risk. After all, construction debris falls from up to 23 metres. That is why our employees always consistently observe the safety regulations and thus reduce the risk to an absolute minimum. Extreme caution is also required when demolishing between 2 buildings so that the adjacent walls are not damaged.

We also have something against dust

Especially in dry and hot periods, water is an important tool for sprinkling the demolition site. Although our large demolition excavator always uses its own sprinkler system, we usually water construction sites additionally, especially in residential areas.

Recycling gives demolition material a new lease of life

It goes without saying that the Volken Group handles all demolition material responsibly. This is our top priority. Whatever is produced during demolition is sorted by type and, if possible, recycled. In addition to mineral materials, this includes, for example, scrap metal or waste wood. The remaining materials, such as Eternit, chemical or toxic substances, either go to a residual storage facility at our landfill sites or are disposed of by partner companies.
