Construction practitioners are sought-after specialists. John Zengaffinen, who started his apprenticeship at the Volken Group this year, knows this too. "I chose this profession because I enjoy working outside. After work, you can see what you've done. But what I like best is working in a team and mastering challenges together." Training to become an EBA construction technician is as varied as the profession itself. It begins with preparing, setting up and securing the construction site, and continues with digging, backfilling, shuttering and building walls, right through to renovation and demolition. John Zengaffinen also learns how to maintain tools and machines, work safely and dispose of waste in an environmentally friendly manner. If you want to do the two-year apprenticeship, you should be a skilled craftsman, physically fit, have a head for heights and, of course, be weatherproof.
