From the Tschingelbach waterfall to the mouth of the Rhone, floods can occur even without warning. For this reason, comprehensive structural protection measures are being implemented in Niedergampel. At present, specialists from the Volken Group are busy with the preparatory work between the cantonal road and the mouth of the Rhone. Large excavators and dumpers are being used. Among other things, they are paving the way for a new bedload basin, a spillway dam and other protective structures. In the process, material disposal is being kept to a minimum and any backfilling work is being carried out using material extracted from the site.
