Help in case of fire: Loch extinguishing water pond

Should a forest fire break out above Steg-Hohtenn one day, the municipality is well equipped. Last May, the specialists from the Volken Group completed the new firefighting pond on a natural terrace. It stores around 350 m3 of water, is around four meters deep and almost circular. In order to construct the four-metre-high protective dam on the valley side with a volume of around 2000 m3 as sustainably as possible, the master builders used the excavated material from the pond. They also reinforced the dam with several layers of geogrid and sealed the pond with betonite mats. A challenging project, as the access road is very steep and cannot be mastered with large trucks.
