It's half time on the Glisergrund construction site

Last year, mainly shafts, pipe blocks and catenary foundations were constructed in the Glisergrund. This year, substructure work will now be carried out mainly in the track field. To this end, the existing roadways will first be dismantled. Then the existing foundation layer will be replaced by a new standard-compliant foundation layer, on top of which a fine grading layer will be laid, followed by a 7cm thick AC-Rail surfacing layer.
AC-Rail is produced by VOWEG at the Leukerfeld plant and laid on site with a paver. This is followed by the final base course, the ballast. Only then can the track system be built again. The pavement layer offers the advantage that in the event of future rehabilitation of the ballast, it can be easily removed. When the pavement is laid, care is taken to ensure that it has a slope at the sides so that the water can drain off into the seepage pipes. In addition to the work in the track field, various conversions and new constructions are also being carried out in the workshops. All work is progressing on schedule and we are confident that we will be able to complete the construction work at the heart of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway on time.
