More habitat for nature: Vispa fish ladder

By the end of February, the hydraulic engineering specialists from the Volken Group will have completed a new block ramp in the Vispa. This approximately 70-metre-long fish ladder is being built on behalf of the municipality of Visp in collaboration with the canton and the federal government. In order for the fish to find their way upstream through several overlapping pools, precision work is required: the water and the attracting current must flow at the right pace, which is why all the stones must be laid with an accuracy of +/- 5 cm. The project can only be carried out during the current low water period and creates new habitat, primarily for exposed brown trout.
