Safety first: Blasting for the Zermatt water reservoir

There is no getting around blasting for certain construction projects, including the new Zermatt water reservoir. Here, civil engineering specialists from the Volken Group broke out tons of rock material. Safety came first to ensure that neither people were injured nor machinery damaged. First, holes were drilled and filled with explosives. Then a large excavator laid out protective mats, the team left the construction site with their machines and the blaster laid the detonators. As soon as he blew the horn, everyone knew that the blast was about to start. After the blast, the exposed material was sorted and transported away.
