Storm damage in the Mattertal: repair work continues

The recent storms have also caused considerable damage in the Mattertal. In Herbriggen, the storm undermined the foundations of the MGBahn, causing the roadway to sink. The immediate measures taken by the Volken Group included the construction of a temporary access road to ensure access to the construction site. The water was diverted with stones and the leaning viaduct was secured with wooden logs, shotcrete and anchors. The foundations were then repaired so that the roadway, including asphalt and ballast, could be rebuilt. Our work is now complete and the tracks can be re-laid by the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group to restore safe rail operations. At Rittigraben, the rolling track was also badly damaged by the storms. Here, we have repaired the damaged rolling track and thus restored the stability and functionality of this area.
