We are an owner-managed family business in its second generation. We have short decision-making processes and prioritise communication on an equal footing.
During the construction of the Zermatt water reservoir, the Volken Group not only blasted tons of rock material, but also processed it efficiently for concrete production on site. Our crushing and screening plants were used directly on site to process the blasted material. The material was crushed in two separate but perfectly coordinated machines and fed directly into the feed hopper of the screening plant via a conveyor belt. This screened the crushed raw material into various fractions to form concrete aggregates. The oversize material was fed back into the crusher via a return belt and processed again. In this way, the raw material for concrete was produced directly on site from the existing rock material - a particularly sustainable process that made the transportation of concrete to the construction site superfluous.
