Swissgrid began construction work on the new high-voltage line between Mörel-Filet and Ernen this spring. Nine pylon foundations will be constructed by the Volken Group by the fall. In steep and unstable terrain, the foundations are anchored in the ground with piles and secured with additional measures. During the construction of the foundations, care is always taken to minimize the impact on flora and fauna.
The new high-voltage line will be used to transport electricity from the Valais hydropower plant. The overall project provides for the construction of a new, approximately 30-kilometer-long transmission line between Mörel-Filet and Ulrichen. The current 220 kV line and the 65 kV line between Mörel-Filet and Ulrichen, some of which runs close to residential areas, will be dismantled, thus significantly reducing the impact on the landscape.
