Since May, construction work has been in progress for the total reconstruction of the railway station in Lax. On behalf of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway, the platforms, car parks and access to the station are being rebuilt. The work is currently being carried out during ongoing traffic. However, access to the platforms and trains will still be guaranteed. During 25.10 and 14.11 there will be a total closure. During these three weeks, the entire track system at the station will be renewed and a passenger subway will be built. The aim of the reconstruction is to make the Lax station safer through the passenger subway and to make access to the trains handicapped accessible through the adjustments to the platforms.
