To ensure that everything continues to run according to schedule on the MGBahn, its train compositions also need to be serviced periodically. This is where underfloor lifting systems come into their own: they allow multi-part rail vehicles to be lifted easily. The Volken Group worked on excavating the pit required for this with a volume of almost 26,000 m3. The specialist foundation engineers also stabilized the walls with around 3000 m3 of shotcrete and constructed the cable shafts. In front of the depot itself, the Volken Group employees laid 3350 m of kerbstones. Heavy drilling equipment, several trucks, hydraulic excavators of up to 30 tons and other special machines were used for this major project. A real feat: the logistics were complex, rail operations could not be interrupted and the entire project is due to be completed by 2025.
