Unique project in Switzerland: fish ladder for trout in Visp

In Visp, the Volken Group is currently building a fish ladder so that brown trout and lake trout can find their way upstream. These fish, which can grow up to one meter in size, live mainly in Lake Geneva. Until recently, however, a three-metre-high threshold in the Katzenhaus in Visp stopped them in their tracks. With the new fish ladder, a project that only exists three times in Switzerland, the fish can now swim against the direction of the river and make themselves at home anywhere.
