Project description:

Arxada AG operates two raw gas compressors within the gasoline splitting plant in Lalden, which have been in operation since 1965. The compressed raw gas is an intermediate process stream in the production of various basic chemicals for the Visp site. The main quantities of the resulting basic chemicals are purchased by Arxada and DSM and processed into higher-value fine chemicals.

The plant has become noticeably outdated, which means that a replacement for the existing compressors needs to be built and the capacity of a single raw gas compressor needs to be adapted to the current raw gas requirements.

A new compressor building is therefore planned, which will include a larger raw gas compressor.

Requirements:

  • The construction work was all carried out in compliance with Arxada's strict safety requirements (EHS manual)
  • Earthworks in groundwater (excavation pit stabilization and dewatering)
  • In-situ concrete walls with a height of up to 21 meters, executed using climbing formwork
  • Execution of the master builder work during ongoing Arxada operations
