We are also building for the future: the protective dam near Embd

The forces of nature lurk everywhere, even here in Valais. Recently, the "rock and boulder fall" hazard map for the Grossstei-Rormatta area of Embd was revised. It became apparent that many people in this area, which is inhabited all year round, live in the red danger zone. In order to continue to ensure the protection of life and limb, the municipality has drawn up a corresponding construction project. By the end of October 2022, the specialists from the Volken Group will have implemented it in the tightest of spaces. In addition to a 55-metre-long and 3-metre-high protective dam, they are also building a detour of the Rormatte drinking water and wastewater pipes, including a shaft with a pressure-reducing valve. They are also widening the cyclopean wall for a new turning area, creating additional parking spaces and widening the bend in the existing hiking trail.
