Night work comes into play for the MGB: Renovation of retaining wall

It runs 144 km through the most beautiful regions of our Alps and connects Zermatt via Andermatt with St. Moritz: the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway. Recently, the Volken Group renovated an old retaining wall made of natural stone near Niederwald. This was mostly done at night because the structure is very close to the MGB tracks. Over a length of around 110 m, our specialists used a 5-t excavator and a lot of manual work to replace the existing wall crown with a new one, for which they used 45 m³ of concrete and 5 t of reinforcement. The company Voweg AG was used for the new road surface above the wall.
