In collaboration with the construction company E. Lauber & Sohn Hoch- und Tiefbau AG, the Volken Group and the WALABA consortium are carrying out the master builder work for the new Walka school building in Zermatt. Demolition work on the Walka 1 and 2 school buildings has been underway since April and the gymnasium is currently being dismantled. A 50-ton excavator with a 23-metre-long excavator arm is being used for this. The walls are being torn down piece by piece with the pulverizer. The demolition material is sorted directly on site with a second excavator using various attachments such as sorting grabs or magnets. Construction waste, glass, wood, scrap metal and insulation are finally transported away separately by truck and, where possible, reprocessed at our own recycling sites.
