Diversity from the very first brick: Bricklayer apprentice Leon Garbely.

“A career as a tradesperson with plenty of variety has always been my dream,” says Leon Garbely. He is in his third year of an EFZ masonry apprenticeship with the Volken Group and is currently working on the Litterna construction site in Visp. Here and elsewhere, he has the opportunity to take on all kinds of tasks. Whether reading blueprints or helping with planning, setting up construction sites, digging trenches, laying pipes and lines, or preparing formwork: A mason’s daily work is varied and also includes working with concrete, bricks, and mortar, as well as with prefabricated building elements, insulation, and plastering. Here, as with demolition, renovation, or repair work, a wide variety of tools and machines are used. All in all, it’s an exciting field in which Leon will be working until he completes his apprenticeship in 2023.
We’re happy to continue supporting him even after he completes his apprenticeship and wish him all the best for the future!
