Preventively active: rockfall protection

The populated valley floor of the Saaser-Vispa in Saas-Almagell has always been threatened by massive landslides. This is why the Volken Group is using two large excavators to build a rockfall protection dam around 170 m long and up to four m high by July 2024. Last year, 90 m of the left-bank block set was demolished and rebuilt using local material. A challenging project, as the work is also taking place in river water and directly under a power line.
