Raspille Hydraulic Engineering

Machines with a total weight of 195 metric tons and a total power output of 1,733 PS are currently in operation at the Raspille in Salgesch. The “Raspille Confluence” project aims to reactivate an old branch of the Rhône. By widening the stream channel—a compensatory measure for the A9 highway—more space will be created for the flora and fauna in the Pfyn region. Fish passage in the new oxbow lake will be restored by removing a weir and deepening the bed of the Raspille. Last but not least, this project will also further enhance flood protection by increasing the Rhone’s discharge volume at the Raspille confluence.
