Project description:

The Saaser Vispa erosion protection project comprises the installation of erosion protection measures in the channel of the Saaser Vispa between the confluence of the Massoltergraben/Mäslaubgraben and the Webstube bridge in the municipality of Saas-Almagell. The aim is to stabilize the channel bed in the long term in order to prevent or reduce the existing erosion tendency. The core of the work is the construction of a total of 19 transverse bars consisting of 2-3 rows of large, abrasion-resistant blocks (gneiss, granite or harder), each approx. 2 m long and 25 m apart. These are arranged slightly concave in the direction of flow, tied into the banks at the sides and provided with a low point in the middle to concentrate the runoff. In addition, individual blocks in the field between the bars will be repositioned to increase stability. The work also includes the construction site installation, the creation of an access to the channel and the restoration of the site after completion of the construction work.
