Project description:

The Reckingen - Münster track renewal project comprises the section of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway between kilometers 31+290 and 33+052 in the municipality of Goms, canton of Valais. The aim is to ensure the long-term availability and operational safety of the line. The tracks, sleepers and ballast will be completely renewed, cable and pipe systems including shafts will be replaced and the drainage facilities improved. In addition, earthworks and embankment construction work will be carried out to stabilize the route, individual engineering structures such as retaining walls will be demolished and new ones built, and adjustments will be made to safety installations, overhead lines and low-voltage/telecom installations. The measures also include surfacing work for service roads and access routes. Particular attention is being paid to the elimination of existing defects, such as inadequate drainage, and implementation during ongoing railroad operations, partly in intensive construction phases with total closures. The project is designed in such a way that the facilities will meet the required safety and functional requirements for a remaining useful life of around 40 years.

Requirements:

  • Work in the track area
  • Total closure
