Project description:
The Bettmeralp water supply was built around 1966. The existing Bettmeralp reservoir was built at this time. In order to cover peak demand during the main season, water was treated from Lake Bettmeralp (by means of drip chlorination) and pumped up to the Bettmeralp reservoir. The system for treating the lake water no longer meets today's requirements for drinking water. In the preliminary study carried out by Rudaz + Partner, the weak points of the current supply were recorded and various measures identified. In consultation with the municipality of Bettmeralp, a measure was selected that would enable the water supply to be as independent as possible while still ensuring redundancy. The connection to the Aletsch Water Management Association provides redundancy and, with the size of the water reservoir, Bettmeralp's supply will be largely covered by the existing sources.
