Our teams consist of people from all over the world who work hand in hand with one another.
Last year, the Glisergrund site primarily saw the construction of manholes, pipe blocks, and catenary foundations. This year, the focus will be on subgrade work in the track area. To this end, the existing track beds will first be removed. Afterward, the existing subbase layer will be replaced with a new subbase layer that complies with standards, followed by a fine-grade subbase layer and then a 7-centimeter-thick AC-Rail wearing course.
AC-Rail is produced by VOWEG at its Leukerfeld plant and laid on-site using a paver. This is followed by the final base course: the ballast. Only then can the track system be reinstalled. The surface course offers the advantage that the ballast can be easily removed during future ballast renovations. When installing the surface course, care is taken to ensure that it slopes laterally so that water can drain into the drainage pipes. In addition to the work on the track bed, various renovations and new construction projects are also underway in the workshop buildings. All work is progressing on schedule, and we are confident that we will be able to complete the construction work in the heart of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway on time.
